The Standard
ISO 17799 was published by the International Organization for Standardization, or ISO (www.iso.org), as an internationally recognized standard for information security management governed by guidelines and best practices. While ISO 17799 is written as a high level, generally conceptual set of controls, its goal is to protect information security in order to ensure business continuity, minimize business damage, and maximize return on investments.
